Q. How far in advance should I order my wedding cake
A. For a fruit cake it is advisable to order at least four months, to allow the cakes to mature. For sponge, we need at least one months' notice
Q. Do you delivery and setup the cake on
our wedding day and is there a cost?
A. We can deliver and setup your cake for
a small amount. Cost is dependent on distance as our time
and travelling has to be taken into account
Q. Why are no wedding cake prices given?
A. All our wedding cakes are individually
priced, after consultation with our clients and to suit budgets.
Price is based upon design / size of wedding cake/s as well
as number of tiers; whether there are special requirements
for pillars; sugar-crafted flowers/artificial flowers, or
caricatures. As a guide a two-tier wedding cake starts at
£240, whereas a three-tier wedding cake starts at £290.
We are happy to quote on any cake design seen either on our
web site, or in a magazine. Any of our cakes can be adapted
to suit your requirements, e.g. a three-tier wedding cake
can be adapted for a two-tier wedding cake and visa versa
Q. Can I get a quote on line?
A. Yes - please click
here and complete the form
Q. Is it possible to have fresh flowers
on my wedding cake, rather than artificial or sugar flowers
A. Yes, it is possible, although we as
professionals must ensure that the flowers do not come into
contact with food in terms of the Food Hygiene Act, as some
fresh flowers have been sprayed with insecticide and in this
regard I would work closely with the florist to ensure that
the flower arrangement is in a safe container. If you decide
to go directly to a florist to supply fresh flowers and somebody
else puts them on the cake, we cannot be held responsible
Q. I would like a sponge wedding cake with
fresh cream, is this possible?
A. It is not advisable to use fresh cream
either as a filling or covering as it would prevent the cake/s
from being displayed during your reception. An alternative
is butter-cream, American frosting or chocolate fudge which
look equally as good
Q. I do not like fruit cake and therefore
would prefer a three-tier sponge wedding cake, is this possible
A. This is possible although we use a madeira
mixture, rather than sponge mixture for our wedding cakes,
as it is firmer for decorating. More and more clients are
now requesting sponge or a combination of sponge and fruit.
The design and icing medium would need to be carefully considered
as it is not possible to royal ice a sponge wedding cake as
it does not have a firm base
Q. Is it possible to hire a cake stand from
yourselves to display our wedding cake?
A. Yes, there is a hire charge together
with a refundable deposit, in case of damage or loss
